K9 Security Services

ZimCos Security Ltd provides K9 dog-and-handler security for construction sites, commercial compounds, vacant sites and energy infrastructure where a site assessment supports deployment. The team works to an agreed patrol brief, with controlled boundaries, reporting and welfare arrangements.

We prioritise Watford and Hertfordshire enquiries. For Greater London and projects elsewhere in the UK, send the postcode, programme and required shifts so we can assess deployment and availability.

Construction site dog security

A K9 team can provide a visible deterrent and carry out agreed perimeter patrols during booked hours. Specify the gates, compounds, equipment stores and boundary sections requiring attention. Review the brief when fencing moves, contractors work late or cabins become occupied.

For a complete site plan, combine the dog-unit brief with construction site security, including separate gate duties and any temporary CCTV.

Which sites suit a dog-and-handler unit?

Suitability depends on control of the patrol area and safe separation from other people. Open compounds, closed construction sites and defined commercial perimeters can have different requirements from occupied buildings or entrances used by the public. Identify nearby homes, footpaths, other animals and unexpected arrivals during the assessment.

We do not assume a K9 unit suits every location. If public access or working conditions prevent a suitable deployment, discuss guarding, patrol visits or electronic measures instead.

Handler qualifications and procurement checks

Ask for confirmation of the appropriate SIA licence for the security duties, relevant dog-and-handler training and the evidence required by your procurement process. Review the proposed team’s suitability for the assignment rather than assuming a general badge establishes a particular accreditation.

General patrol dog security does not establish a specialist drug, explosive or other detection capability. Any specialist requirement needs separately verified qualifications and a confirmed scope.

Control, supervision and dog welfare

The service is a dog-and-handler assignment. Agree patrol boundaries, authorised routes, arrangements for workers and visitors, rest periods, water and suitable welfare access. Site hazards, weather and changing activity can affect how the duties are carried out.

Our approach prioritises direct supervision and practical communication with your site manager. Agree handovers, patrol records, escalation contacts and when a change to the brief requires review. Do not publish or share detailed patrol routes beyond authorised personnel.

K9 security alongside static guarding

A handler patrolling the perimeter cannot also maintain an uninterrupted gate post. Where your site needs both, scope the tasks separately. Static officers may handle entry checks while the dog-and-handler team carries out agreed perimeter duties.

For monitoring, define who reviews alerts, how an activation is assessed and who may attend. An equipment installation and a dog-unit shift do not automatically establish a combined response contract.

Overnight, weekend and temporary cover

Provide the exact hours you need: overnight shifts, weekend closures, a shutdown or ongoing project cover. Include the expected duration and notice of changing phases. We confirm the duties, availability and start date before booking; no universal mobilisation or response time is promised.

K9 security in Watford and Hertfordshire

For local enquiries, see K9 security in Watford. Hertfordshire construction, compound and commercial-property enquiries should include the full postcode and site layout. For Greater London, other UK projects or several sites, list locations and shifts separately so deployment arrangements can be assessed.

What affects K9 security costs?

The quote depends on booked hours, assignment duration, site suitability, welfare arrangements and any mobilisation requirements. State additional gate posts, officers or electronic protection separately. Compare proposals against the same duties and cover hours.

Prepare a useful K9 security brief

  • Site postcode, layout, boundaries and public access.
  • Required dates, shifts and expected duration.
  • Assets and patrol duties requiring attention.
  • Workers, visitors, occupied areas and other animals.
  • Welfare facilities, water, induction and known hazards.
  • Reporting recipients, escalation contacts and procurement requirements.

Send your K9 site requirements. Our commercial K9 briefing guide can help you prepare them.

K9 security questions

Is a security dog left alone on site?

The service described here is a dog-and-handler assignment, with control and welfare arrangements agreed before deployment.

Can a K9 team cover every security task?

No. Gate posts, monitoring, patrols and specialist detection involve distinct responsibilities. The proposal defines which duties are included and what separate cover is needed.

Can I request short-term K9 cover?

Yes. Send the site information and required dates so we can assess suitability and confirm availability.
