ZimCos Security Ltd provides guarding, K9 units and gate control for battery energy storage system (BESS) sites and energy infrastructure projects. We plan the assignment around your project phase, authorised access, working hours and the areas requiring protection.
Based in Watford, we consider project enquiries elsewhere in the UK. Send the postcode, programme and required shifts so we can confirm deployment arrangements and availability.

Security during construction, commissioning and operation
During construction, delivery gates, temporary fencing, compounds and stored equipment can require different cover throughout the programme. Commissioning introduces changes to access permissions and restricted areas. Once a site is operational, the brief may focus on authorised maintenance visits, perimeter checks and out-of-hours escalation.
Tell us when the project changes phase. Assignment instructions should reflect the current layout and the responsibilities of your principal contractor, operator and security team.
Choose the duties your site needs
Gate control and contractor access
Officers can check arrivals against approved lists, record visitors and deliveries, and refer access exceptions to your nominated manager. Specify each gate, its opening hours and who may authorise unexpected arrivals. If two gates must remain staffed, each needs its own agreed cover.
Static guarding and perimeter patrols
Define the posts requiring continuous attendance, permitted patrol routes and checks to record. Agree relief and handover arrangements so patrols or breaks do not leave a required gate position unattended. Our shift handover guide explains the information to pass between teams.
K9 dog-and-handler units
K9 teams can support visible deterrence and perimeter duties where the assessment confirms suitability. Boundaries, public access, other workers and welfare arrangements need to be considered. Read about our K9 service and deployment considerations.
CCTV towers and temporary cameras
Cameras can complement officers where positioning, lighting, power and connectivity support the intended coverage. Installation, monitoring and attendance are separate parts of the brief: agree who reviews an alert and what happens next. Explore CCTV towers and temporary site security.
Clear boundaries around technical and emergency duties
The security assignment covers the agreed access, observation, reporting and escalation duties. It does not replace electrical specialists, commissioning personnel or the site emergency plan. Your management team must identify exclusion zones, authorised routes, emergency contacts and the instructions officers should follow if they observe a concern.
What affects the quotation?
Costs depend on the number of posts, shifts, duration, dog-unit requirements and electronic protection. For projects beyond our local area, mobilisation, travel and accommodation arrangements may also affect the proposal. Compare quotes using the same staffed hours and duties, including relief cover and reporting.

Questions about BESS site security
Can you cover nights and weekends?
Include the exact shifts in your enquiry. Staffing, handovers and the start date must be confirmed for the assignment.
Can a K9 team also cover the main gate?
A team on perimeter patrol cannot simultaneously maintain an uninterrupted gate post. We scope those duties separately.
Can the security plan change as construction progresses?
Yes. Changes to gates, fencing, occupied areas and working hours should trigger a review of the agreed duties and staffing.
