A useful security assessment starts with how a site operates. Identify the people, property and activities requiring protection, then check whether access rules, guarding, patrols and electronic systems support those requirements. A long equipment list is less useful than knowing what happens at each entrance and after working hours.
Describe the site and the decision you need to make
Give the postcode, property type, occupancy, opening hours and planned changes. A construction compound, occupied warehouse and vacant office have different duties and access conditions. Explain whether you need a new arrangement, a review after an incident or cover during a temporary closure.
Map access and valuable assets
List gates, doors, delivery points and areas shared with other occupiers. Identify plant, materials, equipment or stock that remains on site. Establish who can approve an unexpected visitor, release equipment and change access permissions. Keep detailed vulnerabilities and access credentials within controlled records.
Compare current protection with the required duties
Separate a continuously staffed gate from a patrol visit. A guard patrolling a remote compound cannot simultaneously maintain an uninterrupted entrance post. A camera recording footage is different from staffed alert handling, and neither automatically establishes a physical response contract.
For projects with changing boundaries and deliveries, review our construction site security service. For empty buildings, compare vacant property inspections and Ajax alarm monitoring against the actual requirement.
Agree responsibilities and evidence
The brief should identify the client decision-maker, security supervisor, reporting recipients and escalation contacts. Ask for the licensing, training and insurance evidence relevant to the proposed work. Do not infer company accreditation from an individual officer’s licence.
For energy projects, security instructions must respect restricted areas and the project emergency plan. BESS and energy site security does not replace electrical, commissioning or specialist safety responsibilities.
Turn findings into an agreed proposal
Prioritise actions by the operational need: who controls entry, what remains unattended, how concerns are reported and who can act. Record any equipment, utilities, welfare or access dependencies. Agree when the arrangement will be reviewed as the building, workforce or construction phase changes.
Request a scoped assessment
Send ZimCos Security Ltd the site location, required duties, working hours and proposed start date. Include existing protection and any written procurement requirements. We confirm suitability, scope and availability before an assignment is agreed. Specialist surveys or technical investigations need their own expressly agreed scope.
