Door Entry & Intercom Systems

ZimCos installs and services door entry systems, intercoms and electric locks. Whether you are replacing a communal entrance door, planning a new build or reporting a fault, tell us how the entrance is used and what you need the system to do.

A working entrance starts with the right brief

A door entry arrangement needs to suit both the entrance and the people using it. Your enquiry might concern visitor communication, controlled entry, an electric lock or several of these together. Describe whether the work is for one entrance or several, and whether equipment is already installed. This helps us discuss the scope before recommending changes.

Replacing a door or adding an electric lock

Changing an entrance door can affect the existing locking and entry equipment. In one of our projects, we installed an electric lock on a new uPVC door. For a similar job, send photographs of the door, frame and existing entry equipment, together with any details from the door supplier. Compatibility needs to be checked for the particular installation.

Intercom and keypad work

Our completed work includes a contractor intercom system and keypad access control. Visitor communication and keypad entry have different functions, so it helps to explain which part needs attention. Let us know whether a visitor cannot call through, speech is unclear, the release is not operating or the keypad is not accepting the expected access code. Do not send working access codes with your initial enquiry.

Door entry for a new build

Our project examples also include door entry installation as part of a new build involving fire alarm and TV systems. For new work, provide entrance drawings where available, the number of properties and the stage of construction. Agreeing equipment locations and access to the work areas helps define the installation brief.

Discuss an existing fault

Include the system make and model if known, when the fault started and whether all users or only some are affected. Explain what still works as well as what has stopped working. Photographs can help us identify equipment, but an assessment may still be needed before repair options can be confirmed.
